There's Just Something About Bertha

You all remember, Bertha, right?  She's Hoss' favorite side kick from Spank-Nza (see how I did that there...play on words people with Spanking and Bonanza!)  A trusty, stout bath brush that has a powerful swat that reverberates on my bum.  Bertha has been with us through almost our entire DD journey, going on almost four years now.   (Has it seriously been that long?)
She is used for fun, those bristles can be rather stimulating.

She can be used for resets, when just the right amount of reminder is felt when I sit down.

She is mostly used for discipline, as it's the one sidekick of Hoss' that just does the trick. (Going with a bit of a Western themed post today obviously.)

She's a sure fire way to get this girl to listen to her man faster than any other implement in the arsenal bag.

Well, Bertha has a significant downfall.

Think LOUD!  As in NOT something Hoss can use very often as she tends to be just THAT kind of loud.  So unless we get up super early...think 5 am, than Bertha is replaced by a less satisfying more intense Lulu aka loopy john.  Lulu has her own advantages.  She's quiet even when I am not.  Lulu is painful and I cannot handle her for long, but her biggest set back is she just doesn't have the same "impact" that sweet, old Bertha does.  In other words, no lasting effect on my bum.

There....I've said it...I do have a fave.

I know many of you are doubting my sanity at this point.  Just so you know, that's definitely in my thought process as well--sanity that is, but Bertha just has a way that makes me feel so right that the other implements just cannot seem to convey.

Anyone else ever have those types of thoughts?  That one side kick fits the bill better than another?

Now, Hoss prefers to do a reset most nights and it helps me to sleep well. That man, knows his woman. It also puts to rest any issues we may have had during the day, but the things is, we cannot under normal circumstances pull Bertha out for that kind of a spanking.  Nah, she's gets to be substituted with Lulu or Sid or some wicked plastic hanger.  None of these implements are loud, so they are the obvious go to when our teens are still up.  And we all know teens, they are always up!
If, Hoss wants to make an impact though, one that lasts and leaves the most impression, than we fight the early morning desires to stay in bed and we take delight.  Yes, people, "delight," in using Bertha.  Let me see if I can make an attempt and briefly explain why.  (I hear you, Baker, don't go there, but I will anyway!  I'm a little nuts like that!)

When we first purchased Bertha it was simply to give her a try.  She gave Hoss a great amount of versatility and a little went a long way.  We knew she was loud though, but at that time we did not have teens staying up all hours like we do now.  Thus, other implements began to spring forth to help us continue our dynamic if we could not spank first thing in the morning (which morning is still my preference as it's the best way to set the mood for the day.)

Bertha also has a way of leaving that, "Oh, I can still feel it," later in the day.  A reminder, if you will, that Hoss expects me and I expect myself, to stay on task or to speak kindly to others, or whatever else Bertha was trying to remind me of that day.  It's not abusive in any way, because Bertha and Hoss together can help to clear my head like no other.  Those types of spankings are very helpful in relaxing my otherwise frazzled mind.  It's also good to settle me when I am blowing it.  I actually appreciate those spankings with Bertha more than I do any other.  I have no idea, but I do consider her to be "an old, trusty, reliable friend," in our DD journey.

Now, is that what I expected when she was purchased?  No, back then I just wanted to prove I could take it.  Or maybe that I felt the need to give everything a try, because of some story/blog or other I'd read about it on  Nah, I know I'd be hard pressed to explain any better than what I have above, but Bertha is what she is....a friend in all times.
My question is....how crazy is that?  (Pretty silly to me.) And do you have any implements that make you feel like you've found a trusty old friend?  (insert the song, "You've God A Friend In Me," here just to add to the sappiness of this post!)

I need to go show this to Hoss now, wish me luck, he may use Bertha more now, that I've explained how I feel!  EEK!

  1. Goodness Baker, I think you have just guaranteed more appearances by Bertha! LoL. I personally don't think I would like her and the thought of a loopy gives me shivers.

I do get though how Bertha does the trick (so to speak) better than any other implement. I love our leather paddle, but for real impact, it's the wooden spoon for me. I have a love/hate relationship with it. Canes too, but they are evil IMO.

  2. I'm not a fan of either the bath brush or the loopy! I guess I'll always be a belt girl at heart. I'm also fond of our dogging bat - google it if you're curious. But I love it. I remember having to sneak around because of teens and timing. The wanting, without getting, was part of the fun really. Good luck.

    1. I do hear you, PK, a belt would be good. I do enjoy that, but we've almost always used that for fun. I'm glad someone knows about the sneaking part too!

  3. oh my god yes!!!!!!!!! Sir Steve has a HUGE flogger -- heavy heavy heavy and I adore it!! it makes a bit of a racket too unfortunately -- but it is just so soothing (in a weird way) when he uses it.

Alas Alack - he has lost that hitting feeling - and said flogger is collecting dust in the back of his cupboard.

    1. MS, you are too funny! Yes, there are just some things that do "it" for me in a way that wouldn't work for others, so I hear you!

  4. We didn't do true discipline as you know, but my fav for getting my attention was the pvc paddle. It was definitely 'attention grabbing', lol!
